Hey Ginger!

So, you have already had the Bypass? I am having mine on the 2nd of Dec. and am looking foreward to it. It seems like the time is going Sooooooo slow though.  I know things will go great for both of us though.

Yes 20 years ago I had Bypass done. with great success.  however due to bleeding ulcers etc, I have to have a revision done Dec 3rd so that I can keep the weight off, I have gain 35 pounds since the ulcer issues and they found that the staples were torn with all the vomiting that I did with the ulcers so we ahve to repair that to get rid of the pain.. oh repair or undo.. so of course I am repairing... that will be much easier than the updoing.....  I will have to have it done open because of prior surgeries... looking forward to it as I haven't felt "Good" in a while... can't wait...

Hey Ginger,

Sorry to hear about the ulcers, I'm sure that it's been a rough road for you. Good news is that you are going to feel better now!

I have had several surgeries myself but they said that they shouldn't have any problems doing mine lapro. I've found that the closer it gets to surgery, the more questions I have about all of it. My last appointment is on Nov. 18 and hopefully they will answer a lot of them....

If you don't mind me asking, how much did you lose after your surgery? I need to lose A LOT and am hoping that I can. Well, that's all for now. Hope to talk to ya soon.

Dear Candy;
No I don't mind at all.. When I went in for surgery I weighted 294, I lost 125 pounds in 5 months, and stayed at 170-174 for 17 years that was a great weight for me... and now I am up to 209, I want to get things straightened out before it gets any higher, I was up to 219 but have taken 10 off.  It worked perfectly for me, and as I am doing it I would do it again in a heart beat....The food is passing into the part of my tummy that was bypassed so it is sitting there instead of being digested, and thus I am gaining the weight.. The time is draggin on since I found out that I was going to have the revision, I did have it scheduled for this week, but changed it due to committments to my office.  so waiting for Dec 3 calmly... and getting a bit frightened..... Geez sorry to hear of all the troubles you had.  It sounds like you had a great go of it for quite a long while.

It's incouraging to read that you have no regrets even after ulcers and having to go in for revisions.

Good Luck on the 3rd.  THanks for sharing, it really helps us that have not had it done yet.

Dear Fitzymom,
No troubles with the Bypass at all, I have ulcers due to other things.... however due to the vomiting that I did with the ulcers some of the staples tore and thus I have gained a little bit of weight, I knew that something wasn't right.. of course my family dr said just "go on a diet"  well I haven't eaten a whole for the past 20 years so I am don't think that was it... and after going to a surgeon that does these surgeries.. I found out that you should always trust yourself.... I am hoping for a lot faster recovery time this time.. surgery shouldn't be as long and 20 years ago I was in the hospital for 10 days.... so three sounds wonderful to me..... I am having to everything that everybody has to do as though I were doing it for the first time however... which I have taken of 9 pounds in the last month so that is good..... what about you when is your date?

Hi am going in on 12/15.  I can not wait!!!!!  Like I said reading on here has really got me more hopeful that I too will be a healthy weight someday.  After my son died of leukemia I think I ate to fill the void.  My husband and I went through hell and I hate watching him sufffer knowing there was nothing more we could do.  I now have two healthy boys and time is flying.  My 13 yo wants me to go on a school trip to Washington DC in the spring.  I want to be trim and healthy so I can keep up with the boys in my group without being winded and tired.  My boys are always worried about me and when I am 50 I do not want them to treat me like I am 90.  That is what is motivating me.  My hubby is behind me 100% which is great.

I will keep you posted and u do the same.

Hugs and best. cindy
